Capps Academic Championship is an independent legal entity, a new educational organization, recognized by the government of Nigeria for the promotion of academic diligence with a strategy for quality and functional education in response to making the system of functional education “one” in Nigeria. It is also a new developmental roadmap in schools without regard to religious or political learning towards talent discovery schemes for Nigerian youths.

Capps Academic Championship is an Educational Scholarship Competition Scheme, arising from the burden of the consequences of poor reading culture, high incidence of examination malpractices and school dropout syndrome among the youths. It is an annual competition modeled to inspire a new generation of children through improvement in JAMB scores of over 200 marks through healthy peer competitions. It is also geared towards encouraging youths development, academic diligence and career choice rooted in life skills for pupils /students in order to eradicate social vices; such as, anti-intellectual dispositions, examination malpractices, cultism, curriculum inconsistency, fraudulence and tribal bigotry in admission procedures, moral decadence, idleness and unemployment, among others.

The poor performances of our students in the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) in some subjects like English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other professional examinations, like Law and Medicine are connected to the consequences of the poor reading culture, high incidence of exam malpractices and school dropout syndrome among the youths.

We have also observed the recent trend of Social media abuse (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) among our youths with its attendant negative effect on their reading interest. The uncontrolled passion for sports has also reduced the academic brilliance, prowess and excellence of pupils/students from the primary and secondary schools in Nigeria.

Nigeria-National Policy on Education (NNPE) is a document with the tall order on the impartation of knowledge to the Nigeria children and for Nation-building.

Capps Academic Championship will stop at nothing in advocating and seek to ensure that a new spirit of academic research, rebirth and excellence which will redress the poor reading culture of students and implement the Nigeria-National Policy on Education to the letter.
