Ondo Students’ Leaders To Shun Planned October 1st Nationwide Protest, Embrace Peaceful Dialogue

Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu, Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs to Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, after extensive consultation and engagement with students’ union leaders and key stakeholders within the state, resolved that Ondo State students will not participate in the planned nationwide protest scheduled for October 1st, 2024.

This decision comes after constructive dialogue, during which student leaders acknowledged the ongoing commitment of the Ondo State Government to prioritize student welfare and address their concerns. The SSA on Student Affairs reassured the student body that the state government is fully dedicated to safeguarding their interests and will continue to focus on policies that promote their growth, safety, and development.

The student leaders, in turn, expressed their gratitude to the SSA for his proactive leadership and his unwavering dedication to fostering peace, growth, and innovation within the student community. They emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, stating that dialogue and collaboration are more effective in advancing their collective goals than violence.

As representatives of the student populace, the union leaders called on all students in Ondo State to embrace peaceful resolutions and to trust in the ongoing efforts of the government to address any challenges. The students remain confident that through collaboration, their welfare will continue to be a top priority for the Ondo State Government.
