Mben Political Assembly Fixes Oct 25 for Ohafia Development Discourse
Mben Political Assembly, the politico-socio-economic development group of the Ohafia people of Abia State, have confirmed October 25 as date for planned stakeholder engagement on the evolution and future of the community.
The group had earlier in the year announced plan to hold an all-encompassing one-day discourse on the socioeconomic development of Ohafia. It set up an implementation committees at the time headed by its Vice President, Barrister Eme Kalu Ekpu and thereafter unveiled the logo for the event.
The decision for October 25 was taken on Monday following wide consultations with key Ohafia stakeholders. The event, tagged Ohafia Development Dialogue 2024 is open to all Ohafia sons and daughters and will generate a roadmap for the turnaround and advancement of the community’s 26 villages, according to statement signed by its president, Dr Michael Kalu and publicity director, Chief Emele Onu.
A high calibre of professionals, politicians and academics are expected to deliver papers, talk in a panel or as rapporteurs, according to the statement.
The MPA in the past years, especially in the run-up to the 2023 general elections organised series of activities including rallies and brainstorming sessions through which it mobilised the people of Ohafia for political participation. The effort paid off, evident in the unprecedented number of political aspirants that won elections or were appointed to offices in the present democratic dispensation, in Abia State and at national level.
