GOV OTTI ASSURES ABIA JUDICIARY OF BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS
*Charges them to remain unbiased in justice disposition

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has assured the judiciary arm of government in the state of his determination to provide enabling environment for the administration of justice system in the state.

Governor Otti stated this while declaring open a four day training programme by the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICARB) in the Capital City of God’s Own State.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, FNSE, Governor Otti disclosed that the essence of organising the programme is to bring our lawyers, magistrates and judges up to speed with the needs in the judiciary and justice system in the state.

The State Chief Executive enjoined them to remain unbiased in justice disposition in order to minimize the growing incidence of victims of poor judicial system.
He urged the participants to see the training as an opportunity to further enhance administration of justice in the state and maximize the benefit of the training. He assured of government support in providing a better conducive environment for them to function effectively.

In her speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters, Mrs. Cleopatra Nkolika Ubani Esq, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unflinching support to the judiciary since assumption of office. She stated that the training is focused on building and enhancing the capacity of legal officers, magistrates and judges in alternative dispute resolution as an effective and more efficient avenue of decongesting our court.

Delivering her address, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, NICARB, Mrs Shola Oshodi George disclosed that the institute is a premier advocating institute in Sub Saharan Africa and has been championing the promotion of arbitration practice in Nigeria.

She thanked the Governor for his remarkable efforts in making Abia an investment destination while ensuring rule of law and effective justice delivery in the state.
The training is fully sponsored by Abia State Government to assist the judiciary in decongesting the court and harnessing opportunities for alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
