South East University Set For Take Off In Arochukwu, Abia State.
The Abia State Governor, Dr Alex C. Otti yesterday received a delegation of the ‘South East University’ led by Dr. Venatius Ogueze, who is in the State to inform the Governor that plans have been concluded for the University to take off in Abia State.
According to Dr. Venatius Ogueze who is the leader of the delegation, the idea behind the South East University is to have a University of the South East Region as can be seen in other regions of the country. He explained that they were impressed with the achievements of Governor Alex Otti since he assumed Office, noting that the Abia State College of Education Technical, Arochukwu has been chosen for the take-off of the University.
The member representing Arochukwu State Constituency and Majority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Okoro Uchenna who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Education who disclosed this on his official social media handles commended the Governor for his viable and quality education system in the State by allocating 20% of the 2024 budget to the Education Sector in the State.
He added that the Governor has also directed the Delegation to meet with the State Commissioner for Education and other Stakeholders to work out the details of the project for possible take-off.
The Abia State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Eme Uche, the Commissioner for Digital Economy, Dr. Matt’s, the SA to the Governor on Education, Kenechukwu, SA to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Luke Ukara, and other top Government Functionaries were also in attendance.
