What Fire Did To Presidential Election Petition Appeal Documents – Supreme Court Spokesman
Festus Akande, the spokesperson of the Supreme Court, has confirmed that the incident on Monday morning was a result of an electrical fault. He specified that it only impacted one chamber of the Apex Court.
In his statement, Akande explained, “The fire started around 7.30 am when some of the staff of the court were already within the premises. The staff on the ground were able to douse the fire with the fire equipment on hand.”
Akande reassured Nigerians that the documents pertaining to cases in the court, especially those related to the Presidential Election Petition appeal, remain intact and that the fire will not disrupt the operations of the Apex Court. He added, “Only a few books and stationery were affected.”
