ONWA OHAFIA in collaboration with world Ebony network USA is showcasing the Ohafia history using the Ohafia traditional dance”IRI AHA” where there would be a live display of the traditional dance at Achichi Ohafia, Elu on the 24th June, by 2.00pm Nigerian time and transmitted through a live streaming all over the media in commoration of the Achebe day in USA.
The Ohafia war dance celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Ohafia people. It is this vision that Onwa Ohafia Social Club (Inc) founded in 2004 seeks to address. The main purpose of the Club is to promote rapid development of Ohafia community through educational and economic empowerment for our women and youths, quality Health outreach mainly to indigent compatriots, the welfare and wellbeing of Ohafia Cultural heritage, within the 26 Communities that make up Ohafia Kingdom. It is also to promote social affinity and friendliness among members living not only in Ohafia, but other parts of Nigeria and in the diaspora. It is this mission that compelled Onwa Ohafia Social Club (OOSC) to partner with World Ebony Network on this auspicious day to celebrate the late sage Prof. Chinua Achebe who had passion for African culture.
The Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu will be the guest of Honour at the event including other prominent , Ohafia sons and daughters, Abians and Nigerians.
