UKWA/NGWA APC POLITICAL FORUM
MAKES CASE FOR A FEDERAL MINISTER FROM
THE OLD ABA ZONE OF ABIA STATE
A political group under the umbrella of Ukwa/Ngwa APC Political Forum has congratulated the President- Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Bola Tinubu on his resounding victory on the just concluded election and called on the leadership of the party to nominate/recommend an Ukwa/Ngwa Son for the ministerial slot for Abia State when the President Elect inaugurate his Executive Council upon his swearing in.
The group whose membership is drawn from the nine (9) Local Government Areas of Abia State made the call after her 7th National Executive Council meeting held at Ngwa Cultural Hall Aba, Abia State on Friday 7/4/2023.
According to the chairman of the group Barr. Chika Uhuaba who is also the Abia State Director for the South East Progressives Movement for Tinubu and Shettima for the 2023 Presidential Election and the State Director Team Shettima for BAT Project 2023 and the group’s General Secretary Barr. Nnaemeka Otagburuagu who also served as the National Secretary Team Shettima for BAT Project 2023 and member of the Support Groups Presidential Campaign council , who respectively addressed the press after the meeting, the group observed that Old Aba Zone of Abia State despite her numerical and economic strength and support to the party from 2014 has not been considered and/or nominated as a minister of the Federal Government. The group, through the said officers further observed that all the ministers that have represented Abia State under the APC led federal government are from the Old Bende divide of Abia State, a situation that flouts all sense of fairness.
Barr Uhuaba and Otagburuagu lamented that when Uche Ogah resigned as Minister of the federal government to pursue his gubernatorial ambition that another Old Bende son was recommended and appointed as Minister despite Ukwa/ Ngwa having qualified party men and Women.
The group therefore observed that nominating/recommending a man from old Aba Zone by the leadership of the party to take up the ministerial slot for Abia State will accord with the principle of equity, fair play and thus give members of the party from the zone a sense of inclusiveness in the party.
