I have seen articles written by some faceless persons regarding equity and will like to make the following assertions:

  1. That Ohafia and Arochukwu LGAs have never had any written or verbal agreement for an equity for political positions as claimed by some writers. If there exist such it could be within a particular party, the PDP only which has been the only party that has held that position since the birth of democracy in 1999. It does not affect other party’s zoning arrangements.
  2. There’s this saying that he who comes to equity must come with a clean hand, therefore, I urge my brothers who are contesting for the position to represent Arochukwu/Ohafia in the federal house of representatives to come open and reject the Ngwa governorship ticket given to Prof. Ikonne as against the PDP acclaimed zoning arrangement of which Abia North is entitled to take since all zones have taken their share of the governorship position. Let’s still consider the fact that the zoning arrangement doesn’t concern other parties; the position is still thrown open to all until any party’s candidate holds the position. If the PDP candidate contesting for the federal house of representatives refuse to condemn the Ngwa governorship ticket, he therefore has no right to talk about zoning of any political position to any zone, whether local or state-wise.
  3. As far as am concerned, equity does not exist in Abia politics and if it must exist, we should consider it from the governorship position then down to other positions. Let’s be sincere to ourselves and not deceive the gullible with the so called equity.
  4. The faceless writer has publicly exposed his little knowledge of democracy with the so called communique by forgetting that the House of Representatives elections in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency have been fiercely contested by candidates from both Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs since 1999. According to the writer, the current dispensation is the turn of Arochukwu LGA, what if any of the candidates from ohafia LGA had won the elections in 2015 and 2019? Would he had denied him victory because it is not their turn?

My conclusion is that the author of the communique has grossly misused the word EQUITY in his writing. He should apply his intellect more for the development of our nascent democracy instead of misleading the public.
