Ohaneze Ndigbo Appoints New President-General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has appointed Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu Chukwu as its new President General. His appointment is temporary, filling the remaining term of the late Ambassador Professor George Obiozor until January 10, 2025. The appointment follows a series of unfortunate events, including the deaths of Obiozor in 2022 and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu in mid-2024. To complete the tenure for Imo State, the state’s leadership proposed Nze Ozichukwu, whose nomination was approved by the Imeobi Ohanaeze. Gov Fubara Suspends Local Govt Chairman The Rivers state governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has suspended the local government committee chairman of the Akuku-Toru local government area, Otonye Briggs. Fubara in a statement signed on Tuesday, September 17, by his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, said Briggs had been suspended with immediate effect The governor directed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to immediately take over as the caretaker committee chairman of the council.
