FACTS ON GROUND CONTRADICT KALU KALU’S CLAIM: GOV OTTI’S ADMINISTRATION HAS DELIVERED MULTIPLE PROJECTS IN OHAFIA
Recent comments attributed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Abia, Barr. Kalu Kalu, challenging Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, to identify a single project executed by his administration in Ohafia Local Government Area, have been described by many as one of the funniest political claims of the year, given the visible infrastructure interventions spread across Ohafia.
Kalu was reportedly quoted as saying that he would abandon his 2027 governorship ambition if even one project executed by the Otti administration could be identified in Ohafia.
While political criticism and contestation remain legitimate features of a democratic society, public discourse, particularly at the level of a governorship contest, is expected to be anchored on facts that can withstand verification. This is because, available evidence on the ground, however, appears to contradict the claim.

Take note: One of the significant institutional interventions of the Otti administration was the establishment and operationalisation of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), an Abia State Government agency established to drive infrastructure and socio-economic development across Greater Ohafia and the wider Abia North Senatorial District.
Through the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), several projects have either been completed or are at various stages of execution across Ohafia Local Government Area. These include:
Construction of approximately 1.58km Amaekpu Ring Road, Amaekpu, Ohafia — completed.
Retrofitting of the GODA Headquarters, Amaekpu, Ohafia — completed.
Reconstruction of Asaga–Amuke Road, including the bridge — completed.
Retrofitting of the FRSC Regional Licensing Office, Ebem, Ohafia — completed.
Construction of Okagwe–Nkwebi Road, Ohafia LGA — completed.
Rehabilitation of the 6.5km Abiriba–Etitiama–Amurie Nkporo Road, Ohafia LGA — completed.
Other Abia State Government Projects Through GODA in Ohafia
Grading of inner-community roads and multiple farm settlement roads in Ndi Nku Community, Ania Ward.
Establishment of the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), South-East Regional Centre.
Reconstruction of Asaga Ring Roads__ completed
Drilling and installation of solar-powered boreholes with water storage tanks for selected schools and communities across three LGAs: Isuikwuato, Ohafia and Arochukwu__completed
Construction of Ndi Orieke Road — Phase 1 completed, while Phase 2 is ongoing.
Construction of Afia Nkwo (New Isiama Daily Market), Ohafia.
Construction of the 1.1km Ishi Ogbokwe–Jokel to Coronata Church Junction Road, Asaga, Ohafia LGA.
Construction of the 1.5km Abia–Ohafia Road to Amamiri, Ihechiowa, Arochukwu LGA — Phase 1.
Ongoing construction of Maryland Road, off Awco Road, Agbor Court, Abiriba.
Moreso, beyond projects executed through GODA, the Otti administration has also undertaken major infrastructure interventions serving residents of Ohafia.
A particularly significant example is the reconstruction of the 22.5-kilometre Abiriba–Ohafia section of the Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Isuikwuato–Alayi–Abiriba–Ohafia Road, which was commissioned by Governor Otti on May 28, 2026, and subsequently named the Chief Otisi Kalu (Abbot) Road.
There are also other interventions which, for reasons of space, are not exhaustively listed here, including the retrofitting and functionalizing of the Amangwu Health Centre, electricity interventions, and the opening-up of farm roads to enhance access to agricultural communities.
The evidence on the ground clearly contradicts the claims of our dear brother, Barr. Kalu Kalu. As stated earlier, candidates of political parties are entitled to criticise government policies and actions. However, it becomes a question of integrity when political ambition leads one to deny the existence of projects that are physically present and open to independent verification!
