2027 Primary Elections Dates Remain Unchanged – APC

The All Progressives Congress has dismissed reports claiming that it altered the timetable for its 2027 primary elections, insisting that the previously announced dates remain valid.

The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and published on the APC’s official platform on Wednesday night.

According to the statement, the House of Representatives primary election will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, while the Senate primary election is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.

The party also stated that the State House of Assembly primary election will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, followed by the governorship primary on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

It added that the presidential primary election remains fixed for Saturday, May 23, 2026.

“This clarification has become necessary following the circulation of false and misleading reports on social media and other communication platforms suggesting otherwise,” the statement read.

The APC urged members and the public to disregard unofficial reports regarding the party’s electoral timetable.

AttNews earlier reported that the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 general elections will emerge through the Direct primary option.

National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, made the disclosure last week Thursday during the submission of Expression of interest and Nomination Forms by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, presented the form on behalf of President Tinubu, who is outside the country on a three-nation tour.

By the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, candidates for elective offices could emerge through Direct primary or a consensus arrangement.

Investigation revealed that President Tinubu, who had since been endorsed by stakeholders in the party would seek votes of delegates, along with a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress from Delta State. Stanley Osifo who also picked form for the presidential race.
