Amb. Osita Offor Tells Senator Orji Kalu to Withdraw Petition Against Ohafia Youths With Immediate Effect, Tender Unreserved Public Apology
…Cautions the senator to inbibe in the spirit of dialogue instead of intimidation and political desperation.
Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor, popularly known as “De Ultimate Commander” and the Ikenga Gburugburu of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, has called on Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to immediately withdraw his case against youths of Ohafia Local Government Area and tender an unreserved public apology to the Ohafia Clan.
Dr. Offor was reacting to the recent political tension between the former Abia State governor and Ohafia youths following the senator’s decision to petition the youth association for openly expressing their political views. He described the move as an act of desperation taken too far and an attempt to intimidate the same people he is supposed to be representing at the Senate.
According to ambassador Offor, the Ohafia youths raised legitimate concerns regarding the justice and wisdom of Senator Kalu’s decision during the 2023 general elections to label Ohafia as an IPOB enclave after the same youths fought for many years to protect his political interest when most people rejected him, including his own people, a move he said was aimed at disenfranchising the people and suppressing their protest vote. He noted that the youths merely voiced grievances rooted in recent political history, stressing that the people of Ohafia have not forgotten actions taken against them in the past.
While acknowledging Senator Kalu’s constitutional right to move freely across Nigeria, Dr Offor maintained that the Ohafia youths equally possess the inalienable right to reject any political figure openly and at the polls. He warned that resorting to petitions and intimidation as a political strategy would only worsen the senator’s relationship with the people, describing such an approach as counterproductive and self-defeating.
Dr Offor therefore, once again, urged Senator Kalu to immediately withdraw the petition and issue a public apology to the entire Ohafia people for this reckless and unjustifiable attack on their collective dignity. He advised the senator to be more circumspect and less desperate in his pursuit of power, noting that excessive political tension does not reflect well on someone regarded as an elder in the polity.
He further argued that the senator’s political challenges escalated following his repeated attacks on Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, accusing him of making spurious and vindictive claims against an administration that, according to him, has restored hope to Ndi Abia. Ambassador Offor said it was unrealistic to expect the people to remain silent while efforts were made to undermine a government they believe has brought renewed direction to the state.
The Undefeated World Heavyweight Champion of the Champions, cautioned Senator Kalu against actions capable of destabilising Abia State, urging him instead to allow Governor Otti to focus on governance and improving the lives of the people. He described the unfolding drama as unnecessary political theatrics that risk heating up the polity, warning that Abia State should not be dragged back into an era of political chaos and developmental stagnation under the guise of political positioning.
Ikenga Gburgburu of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom therefore, reiterated his support and solidarity with the Ohafia Cllan because injury to one is injury to all. He stated that those who live in glassed house should never throw stones.
