Ohafia Mayor Intervenes in Dispute Between Hon. Uduma Uguru and Rt. Hon. Daniel Eke Urum
The Executive Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area, Chief Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, has intervened in the recent altercation involving Hon. Uduma Uguru, popularly known as Makiba, and the Deputy Leader of the Ohafia Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Daniel Eke Urum.
In a move aimed at restoring peace and preserving decorum within the LGA, the Mayor, accompanied by his Deputy, Hon. Eme Iro Eme, and the his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Hon. DK Nkole, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Uduma Uguru at his country home in Okagwe Ohafia where he condemned the incident of his assault by some youths that was widely circulated on social media platforms. The Mayor also seized the opportunity to address the representatives of Okagwe Youths and Ndi Eze on the need to continue to maintain peace and order without further resorting to violence or retaliation. The Mayor promised to ensure that justice is seen to have been done.
Demonstrating his administration’s commitment to justice, fairness, and due process, Chief Eleanya convened both parties for a fair hearing and conflict resolution process. The meeting, held at the residence of Col. Ezichi Kalu (Rtd.), General Manager of ARTSMA, provided a platform for further dialogue and steps towards a peaceful reconciliation.
He subsequently visited the palace of the Eziogo of Amaekpu Ohafia, HRH Eze Awa Nwankwo, to brief the traditional ruler and discuss the way forward in ensuring lasting peace.
Chief Eleanya reaffirmed that his office remains steadfast in promoting justice, unity, mutual respect, and effective collaboration among all arms of the local government, stressing that peace and understanding are essential for the continued progress and development of Ohafia LGA.
