ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT, THROUGH GODA, BEGINS REHABILITATION OF ASAGA–AMUKE ROAD
The Abia State Government, led by Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, has commenced the long-awaited rehabilitation of the Asaga-Amuke Road, a critical link between several communities in Ohafia Local Government Area.
This strategic intervention comes after years of neglect that rendered the road impassable during every rainy season, frustrating economic activities and resulting in numerous accidents and hardships for residents and commuters.
The Asaga-Amuke Road, which connects key villages including Asaga, Amuke, Amangwu and many more, has long been a nightmare to navigate due to multiple failed portions along the stretch. Its poor state has hindered movement, curtailed trade, and exacerbated the suffering of locals who rely on the route for daily transit and commerce.
The Director General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority, Engr. Obinna Odum, who was on ground to flag off the rehabilitation project, assured host communities of a high-quality and timely execution. He emphasized Governor Alex Otti’s unwavering commitment to alleviating hardship and revitalizing rural economies through infrastructural development.
“This project is a clear demonstration of Governor Otti’s resolve to restore dignity to our people by tackling infrastructural decay and promoting inclusive growth. The Governor understands the strategic importance of this road and has made it a priority to ensure that our communities are no longer cut off or subjected to avoidable suffering,” Engr. Odum stated.
In a show of appreciation, residents and commuters at the site hailed the Otti-led administration for its responsiveness and commitment to the people’s welfare. Many described this intervention as historic, noting that it marks the first time a state government has decisively addressed the plight of the area with such seriousness and integrity.
“This is the first time we are getting it right,” one elder remarked. “We voted for a promise-keeping Governor, and today we are seeing the evidence. Governor Otti is restoring our faith in governance.”
The rehabilitation of the Asaga-Amuke Road is expected to significantly improve mobility, stimulate local commerce, and open up the area to broader economic opportunities, while also attracting potential investors.
