GOVERNOR’S MEDIA CHAT: STATEMENTS TO NOTE.
- This is a Government of Abia people and installed by Abia people.
- This is a Government that does not behold any God-father.
- The best religion we can talk about is the religion of helping the needy and less privileged.
- As a Government, we will do everything to make life easier for our people.
- Agriculture and Digital Technology are priority areas of our Government.
- We have set up a committee to achieve our ambitious medical city. The whole idea is to reverse medical tourism to Abia State.
- We met a very poor state of accounts but we will continue to pen down on maturing obligations.
- So far, we have been able to operate without borrowing a dime.
- We are dualizing omuma road with rigid technology.
- We are happy that the Abia Warriors did us proud. We celebrated and wished them well
- We will be increasing the retirement age of nurses from 60 to 65 years.
- We do not condone corruption. Any appointee caught in Embezzlement or any corrupt act will be penalized.
- There has always been a plan to conduct LG elections, but the timetable is not yet out. In the next few days, we will approach Abia State House of Assembly to secure the necessary powers to conduct the elections seamlessly.
- The town planning authority apparently has a lot of people who were employed by the last administration on contract basis and we believed that some of them were just done as political patronage. We are absorbing those who have the required skills into the agency while paying off and disengaging those without the requisite knowledge and skills to work in the strategic agency of Government.
- On the case of the former Commissioner of Health who resigned her appointment, No money was stolen or mismanaged but there were procedures that were abused by the former Hon. Commissioner in the discharge of her duties which may have attracted a reprimand or caution but she chose to throw in the towel and the Government decided to accept her resignation.
- Every Abia elite should always extend a helping hand to the vulnerable.
- We are at the last stage of signing papers to bring in mechanized farming into the State after training over 300 Abia Youths at CSS FARMS in Nasarawa State.
- Obinna Oriaku was my staff in First Bank. I interviewed and hired him. He worked with me from 2007 till 2011 when I left First Bank. As a matter of principle, I do not discuss my staff. However, Hon. Chima Oriaku resigned as a Commissioner and have no problems with the Governor or Government of Abia State. The job of serving the Government is not a permanent job including the Governor who appoints political appointees.
- The Governor mandated the Hon. Commissioner for works to look into the Umusu road that has been dilapidated for over 30 years.
- On Agriculture, we are reclaiming the old farm settlements and concessioned palm plantations scattered across the state.
- A team comprising the NLC and all Labor Unions are working on an effective template for the minimum wage implementation. We are making provisions for the salary increase in line with the new minimum wage.
- We are doing away with files to digitalize Government agencies, systems and processes.
