Names Of 50 Niger Catholic School Students Who Escaped From Kidnappers
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State on Sunday announced that fifty pupils abducted from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, have escaped and reunited with their families.
The announcement comes days after suspected terrorists invaded the school and abducted 303 pupils, students, and staff.
ATTNEWS had earlier reported that the number of abducted students and teachers rose to 315, including 12 teachers, up from the initial figure of 227.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Minna by his media aide, Prince Dan Atori, the Chairman of CAN in Niger State, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, said the children escaped between Friday and Saturday but did not return to the school, prompting officials to trace their whereabouts and confirm with their parents.
“We were able to ascertain this when we contacted and visited some parents,” the statement said.
