My Husband Don’t Have Money, Separate Us – Woman Tells Court

A housewife, Mulikat Abdulrasheed, has prayed for divorce in an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on grounds that her husband, Abdullahi was jobless and had no source of livelihood.

“My uncle arranged the marriage with Abdullahi. I didn’t know that he was jobless, had no money or any source of livelihood.

“I later realised that he had no money after giving birth to my first born. I told my mother I could not continue living with him but she begged me to be patient and persevere.

“I persevered and gave birth to three children for him. I cannot remain in the marriage. The situation is unbearable.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), “I have been responsible for taking care of the children and providing their needs,” she said.

The presiding judge, Mr Toyin Aluko while delivering judgment in the case, said that Abdullahi sent a letter through the court bailiff, accepting the divorce application.
