AKAEKPUCHIONWA JOINED HIS KINSMEN TO CELEBRATE THE OHAFIA NEW YAM FESTIVAL (IRI JI OHAMAOHA.)
The festival brought together indigenes of Ohafia Udumeze, including representatives from the 26 villages, Chief. Dr. Sam Anya who hails from Elu Ohafia has long been championing and sponsoring the Ohafia New Yam Festival for years now, a a sacred ritual that signals the end of the harvest seasons and the start of preparation for the next planting cycle.





“This festival is more than a celebration of food; it’s a reaffirmation of our identity, our history, and our unbreakable bond as a people,” Dr. Anya stated during his address to the gathering. “In Ohafia Udumeze, we honor the past by feeding the future. As we partake in this New Yam, let us commit to unity, hard work, and lifting each other up.
