Court Grants Bail To Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, Brother
A Kuje Magistrate Court on Friday, October 24, granted bail to Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters and Aloy Ejimakor, the counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The court Magistrate, Abubakar Umar Sai’I’d also granted bail to Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel and 10 other protesters who were arrested for participating in the Monday, October 20, #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.
The conditions listed by the court for the release of the defendants include the sum of N500,000 each and a submission of their verified National Identification Number (NIN) to the registrar of the court.
The defendants have also been mandated to present their three-year tax clearance certificates and submit their passports to the court.
ATTNEWS reported that Sowore, a former presidential candidate was whisked away from the precincts of the Federal High Court in Abuja by armed policemen, shortly after he made appearance for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Sowore, who is a frontline agitator for Kanu’s release from detention, was on Thursday accosted by the security operatives who insisted he must move with them to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a media conference on Thursday said they arrested Sowore for luring protesters into a restricted area to protest in contravention of an order of a court.
“Sowore has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force, and the reason is that the 13 people that were arrested previously in connection to the “FreeNnadiKanu” protest gave their statements.
“From the statements, every one of them mentioned that one Sowore led them into the restricted area in contravention of the court order.
“So it would be most unfair to charge some people to court and leave the person that led them to commit the offence.

“And that’s why, in the spirit of fair play, and to ensure that justice is served, Sowore was arrested today,” he said.
