ISU, IHECHIOWA & UTUTU COMMUNITIES REJOICES AS NDDC HANDS OVER SITE TO CONTRACTOR HANDLING THE INSTALLATION OF SOLAR POWERED STREET LIGHTS ATTRACTED BY IKENNA UKWA

The people of Isu, Ihechiowa and Ututu communities in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State today Wednesday 3rd September 2025 rolled out their drums in jubilation to receive team Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa led by Engr George Nnanna Kalu and the Abia State officials of the NDDC, who were at the palace of HRH, Eze Okpo Christopher, the Ezeogo Obinto Ihechiowa to formally handover site to the contractor for the installation of solar powered street lights for the three communities; a project attracted by the Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President of Nigeria, Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa.
This unprecedented effort and intervention by Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa was accentuated by the Ezeogo of Amankwu Ututu community, HRH, Eze Cletus O. Kalu, who expressed warm appreciation to Ikenna Ukwa for remembering the communities with impactful projects. The royal father stated that the solar powered street lights will help enhance security, the social and economic life of the benefitting communities.
The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, which awarded the contract is currently driving accelerated connection to
lighten-up rural communities with quality solar lights in line with the mandate and Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The NDDC team from Abia office led by Engr Ekerete Uko explained that it was customary for the agency to formally hand over its project site to the benefiting community once the site has been identified and confirmed and appealed to the communities to cooperate with the contractor , Kaplan Consults limited to ensure timely delivery of the project.










Engr Uko expressed confidence in the contractor’s technical competence, saying that the firm has the capacity to execute the light project according to specifications.
The handover form was then signed by the three traditional Rulers from Isu, Ututu and Ihechiowa, including other representatives from the benefitting communities.
During the site handover at the royal father’s palace, an illustrious son of Ihechiowa community and erudite scholar, Prof. Sunny Orie expressed his people’s gratitude to the project Facilitator, Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa and the NDDC for approving the project.
Prof. Orie stated that his people have accepted the light project wholeheartedly and assured the NDDC team that the community would provide every assistance needed to ensure the completion of the project.
The epoch making event was attended by APC stakeholders from Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs, traditional Rulers from the benefitting communities and stakeholders, Councillors representing Ikwu Ward and his counterpart from Isu at the Arochukwu LGA Legislative council, youth leaders, among others.
