Tinubu Approves 11 New Appointments
President Bola Tinubu has appointed eleven new officials to the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), an entity established to manage electricity transmission operations separately from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Dr. Adesegun Olugbade has been named as the Board Chairman, while Engineer Abdu Mohammed Bello will serve as the Managing Director.

The executive directors appointed include:
Engineer Nafisatu Asabe Ali – Systems Operation
Engineer Shehu Abba-Aliyu – Systems Planning
Dr. Edmund Eje – Market Operations
Mr. Babajide Ibironke – Finance and Corporate Services
For non-executive roles:
Engineer Lamu Audu will represent Generation
Mrs. Folake Soetan will oversee Distribution
Mr. Tajudeen Giwa-Osagie has been appointed as a Market Expert
Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz will represent Transmission

Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, will also serve on the board
These appointments are part of the implementation of the Electricity Act of 2023, which mandates the restructuring of TCN into a Transmission System Provider and an Independent System Operator.
NISO was officially established by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on April 30, 2024. It is jointly owned by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), with both holding equal shares.
The presidency stated that the selection process was conducted through the Independent Board Nomination Committee (IBNC) in collaboration with Phillips Consulting Limited.

Meanwhile, the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) will finalize the recruitment process for NISO.
