Adeleke Ignores Police Warning, Insists LG Election Will Hold Today Feb 22
The Osun state Governor Ademola Adeleke has insisted that the local government poll will hold today, Saturday, 22nd of February, 2025.
The Nigeria Police Force said they have received credible intelligence indicating a high likelihood of violence and significant security threats should the planned Local Government elections proceed in Osun State
Police said reports gathered from joint intelligence gathering reveal that various groups, including political elements and other interest parties, are mobilizing to instigate unrest, disrupt public peace, and undermine the democratic order.
NPF strongly advised the Osun State Government to suspend the planned elections forthwith in the interest of public safety and national stability.
But reacting to the police warning, Adeleke via his X handle maintained that the poll will go on today.
He said, “Election is going to hold today and the outcome will be a fast tracked development at the local level. I urge our people to remain peaceful. Osun is a peaceful state

“According to the reports at my disposal, OSSIEC has done a remarkable job in its preparations for today’s election. With several political parties participating, I believe there will be a level playing field for all to test their popularity with the masses.”
