BREAKING: Angry youths set Ondo police station on fire over alleged custodial death
A group of enraged youths has reportedly set a police station ablaze in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State.
The incident followed allegations that a young boy died in police custody after being subjected to torture.
Sources indicate that the protesters took action upon hearing about the boy’s death, while his friend, who was also detained, is currently receiving treatment in a hospital and remains in critical condition.
It was also learnt that another building in the vicinity was also torched during the unrest.
In response to the situation, Ondo State Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi has left Akure for Ifon to restore calm and prevent further escalation of violence.
