NECO releases 2024 examination results
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has published the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, with 57,114 candidates achieving five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.
Announcing the results in Minna on Friday, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, stated that the overall pass rate was 67.35%.
The examination took place from November 14 to December 14, 2024, with 86,067 candidates registered. According to Wushishi, the successful release of results followed the standard examination process, which includes pre-examination, examination, and post-examination stages.
A total of 29 subjects were assessed, with 83,220 candidates sitting for English Language and 83,024 for Mathematics. The results indicate that 62,929 candidates (75.62%) secured a credit or higher in English Language, while 77,988 candidates (93.93%) attained the same in Mathematics. Additionally, 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39%, earned at least five credits, regardless of English and Mathematics.
Regarding examination malpractice, Wushishi reported that 6,160 candidates were involved in various infractions, marking a 27.7% reduction from 2023.
He further disclosed that seven supervisors—two from Oyo, two from Ogun, and one each from Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi—were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, lateness, and aiding examination misconduct. Moreover, 14 examination centers—10 in Ogun and four in Oyo—were blacklisted for engaging in large-scale malpractice across nine subjects.
Candidates can access their results via the NECO official website, www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration number.
