Best Female Varsity Graduates Receive N50 Million From First Lady
Best graduating female students of Joseph Ayo Babalola University would be receiving N50 million as an endowment fund from Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
Tinubu made the declaration on Friday, December 6, at the 15th convocation ceremony of the university in Ekiti State.
Represented by the First Lady of the State, Olayemi Oyebanji, Nigeria’s number one woman she the donation was made in support of education in Nigeria.
Tinubu who also received a honorary doctorate at the event said, “Today in my pursuit and support of education, I hereby donate a sum of N50 million as an endowment fund to the overall best female graduating students of Joseph Ayo Babalola University.
“The overall best student today is a female and would be a beneficiary of the money.”
In his reaction, the Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Joash Amupitan, said the fund received by from the First Lady would be spread across 10 years.
Amupitan said the school has decided that N5 million would be given to the best graduating female student yearly for 10 years.
He said, “Each year, the recipient will receive N5 million, a generous initiative sponsored by Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
This award, aptly named the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Prize for Academic Excellence, underscores our dedication to recognising and rewarding outstanding achievement.”
