Imo State Judiciary reeks of massive corruption as the State Chief Judge is caught in the web of age falsification.
Majority of National Judicial Council NJC nominees for Imo State Judiciary also falsified their ages.
The Imo State Judiciary is in the eye of the storm as a Coalition of Civil Society Groups; the Civil Society Engagement Platform CSEP has opened a can of worms over age falsification by the Chief Judge of the State; Chikeka and many others recommended by the National Judicial Council NJC for appointment as Judges in the State.
In a petition made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Executive Secretary of CSEP and addressed to the National Judicial Council NJC, the group exhibited incontrovertible documents showing clearly that Justice Chikeka; the Chief judge if Imo State serially falsified her age to so as to gain unmerited promotion in the Judiciary.
The Civil Society group also displayed documents showing that many of those who were recommended to be elevated to the Imo State Bench also falsified their ages.
This is a total blow to the already decadent Nigeria judiciary where very eminent Lawyers as well as the Attorney General of the Federation have expressed dismay at the level of corruption bedeviling the Second arm of our democratizatic system.
The Civil Society Group warned that it will mobilize a mass protest against the NJC if it fails to take decisive action against these individuals who have brought terrible shame and dishonor to the Judiciary.
