IS INSECURITY IN THE COUNTY GETTING WORSE?

The above question calls for sober reflection. The new administration seems not have found the magic wand in tackling the persistent insecurity in the Country. The blame game continues.

The kidnapping of Rtd Major General Richard Duru a high profile military personnel took place sometime in the recent past in Owerri North. Within Abuja metropolis, kidnapping, and other related criminal activities have assumed a dangerous and worrisome dimension. It happens on daily basis, and has therefore, become a reoccurring decimal.

It’s no longer news that, the last administration ran a deliberate policy of subjugation in the Country, because of the way it conferred advantages on some favoured section of the Country in the face of persistent existential threat to lives.

Even as the Country was threatened from all fronts, the government was known to have glaringly and obviously found romancing with those criminal elements, and merchants of deaths.

Depending on which part of the country the criminals came from, selective punitive measure were adopted. Offenders were either treated with kid gloves or visited with sledge hammer.

There’s no right thinking human, that supports criminal activities under any guise. Criminals, whether Bandit, Kidnappers etc, do not treat their victims differently.

Recently, many dead and mutilated bodies were discovered in Olakpanta forest near Okigwe with the efforts of Abia State government. It could have been anybody. A young man from Amaekpu Ohafia who has been missing for months now is yet to be found; dead or alive.

Traveling through Enugu /Port Harcourt highway via Okigwe has become a nightmarish experience.

However, most of these people who foment trouble eventually find themselves in the pay roll of the government after their rehabilitation.
These facts are obvious and seemingly apparent, and often brazenly demonstrated.

One would have expected the new administration to maintain firmness of purpose with determination to overcome the seemingly insurmountable situation.
