I did not submit fake Chicago State University certificate to INEC – Tinubu Breaks Silence.
The presidency has dismissed allegations of forgery regarding the certificate presented by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2023 elections. This dismissal came after Chicago State University (CSU) released Tinubu’s academic records to political opponent Atiku Abubakar, as ordered by a court on Monday.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 election, had sought the documents to support his claim of forgery of the CSU certificate against Tinubu.
President Tinubu’s media aide, Temitope Ajayi, responded on Wednesday, emphasizing that CSU had affirmed under oath that Tinubu attended and graduated from the institution. Ajayi argued that the university did not handle replacements for lost certificates and reiterated that the forgery claim lacked substance, stating, “The claim that President Tinubu submitted a fake certificate to INEC does not make sense. A man cannot forge the academic records he possesses. You can only forge what you don’t have.”
